Alcohol theft from petrol station at Green Hammerton

6 December 2012

Two people suspected of stealing alcohol from a petrol station at Green Hammerton have been captured on CCTV.

Officers have released images of the couple – a man and a woman – to encourage the public to come forward and help to identify them.

The pair entered the Co-op garage on the A59 between York and Harrogate at around 8.20pm on Monday 19 November 2012. After wandering around the store for a short time, they approached the alcohol section and put three bottles of vodka and six bottles of whiskey into a bag that the woman was carrying.

The woman then left the shop without making any effort to pay for the goods.

When the woman had gone, the man approached the counter and attempted to pay for a bottle of wine but when he was challenged by staff about the other items he left the shop.

Officers are appealing to anyone who recognises either of the suspects to contact the police or Crimestoppers with information.

Anyone who can help officers with their enquiries is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for PC Cheryl Power or Harrogate police.

If you wish to remain anonymous, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
