Harrogate police hunt Co-op robbery suspects

PoliceDetectives in Harrogate are appealing for witnesses following a robbery in the town.

It occurred at the 9.30pm on Thursday 8 November 2012, at the Co-op store on St Winifred’s Avenue when two people entered the shop. One of them threatened the staff with a knife before stealing around £180 and leaving the store.

When they left the premises they headed along St Winifred’s Avenue towards the hospital.

The suspect who threatened the staff is described as being around 5ft 3in tall with a stocky build. At the time of the incident he was wearing a green balaclava, black shiny jacket and dark jogging pants.

The second person is approximately 5ft 8in tall and was wearing a grey hooded top, black balaclava, black jogging pants and blue latex gloves.

A 23-year-old local man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently in police custody.

Detective Sergeant Hannah Wright, of Harrogate CID, said:

If you witnessed the robbery or can help identify either of the people involved I urge you to come forward and contact the police or Crimestoppers straight away.

I am particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the two suspects after they left the store or saw anyone acting suspiciously prior to the robbery.
