Two Harrogate Hospital Radio presenters will be swapping the surrounds of their studio for a shopping centre this Saturday (20 October 2012) as they aim to broadcast live for six hours whilst on the move!

This Dieting DJs challenge has all been based around the number “35”. On Saturday, the pair, Scott Wall & Shaun Gill will be attempting to power-walk 35kms each on two treadmills as the final stunt in their fundraising efforts.

Starting in mid-June the boys both took on a weight loss challenge to lose 35lbs each ahead of Harrogate Hospital Radio’s 35th birthday, which is on Monday 22nd October, and they have already smashed this target.

Through their dieting endeavours so far The Dieting DJs have raised £3,750 and are hoping to break through the £4,000 figure this weekend.

The “Treadmill Transmission”, which is taking place on the first floor of Harrogate’s Victoria Shopping Centre, will begin at 10am and conclude at 4pm.

The show will be broadcast live in both the shopping centre and on Harrogate Hospital Radio, and those requesting a dedication will be entered into hourly draw to win some great prizes.

Scott said:

We started our challenge 19 weeks ago and this is our final, big push. So far we have lost more than 100lbs between us and are hoping that we can not only reach, but beat our target.

I’d also like to thank Monkhouse Intersport for loaning us the treadmills and the Victoria Centre for allowing us to use their facilities for this fundraiser.

Shaun said:

If you had asked us 19 weeks ago could we complete this challenge, the answer would have been a resounding no! However, by sensible eating, cutting out alcohol and the fitness regime devised by the Nuffield team, we are the healthiest we have been in years.

Harrogate Hospital Radio chairman Ian Wighton said:

Everyone at Harrogate Hospital Radio is backing the Dieting DJs in their quest.

By raising the money we will have enough money to pay for the full refurbishment of our second studio, which is costing more than £12,000.

This will compliment the upgrade to Studio 1 completed 12 months ago, and means we can boast to having some of the best broadcasting facilities in the region.

We’d love to see you on Saturday, so please join us to donate, dedicate and help us celebrate 35 years of Harrogate Hospital Radio.
