On Monday 8th October 2012 Harrogate Town’s Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) ran a successful workshop at Asda, Bower Road, Harrogate. PC 1534 Tom Barker who has recently joined the Harrogate Town SNT was on hand alongside other colleagues to answer questions and give advice on theft and anti-social behaviour.

PC 1534 Tom Barker, Safer Neighbourhood Beat Manager Harrogate Town said:

It is important to stress that crime and anti-social behaviour in Harrogate is very low. However, particularly with the run-up to Christmas it is vital that residents, shoppers and retailers continue to be extra vigilant.

Harrogate Police officers and PCSO’s will make it extremely difficult for those people who are intent on coming into the town centre to commit crime and anti-social behaviour. The message is clear; Harrogate Town Centre is not easy pickings.

During the lead up to Christmas, Harrogate Town SNT will be running Operation Advent which will include using the Mobile Police Office frequently in the town centre, as well as a number of other initiatives. Not only will this provide extra visibility to public, deterrent to criminals, but officers again will be on hand to answer questions and offer advice.

Dates of when the mobile police office will be in use will be promoted prior to the day.

If you have any concerns or wish to discuss any issues in the town centre don’t hesitate to contact PC 1534 Tom Barker on 101 or tom.barker@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk
