Police in Harrogate are appealing for information after a spate of graffiti in the town.

Officers are investigating after a number of complaints were received from residents in the Granby ward of damage being caused to fences and gates.

The local community centre has also been targeted by vandals, who painted a tag on the wall reading: ‘N.Y.S. North Yorkshire Sketch.’

The local Safer Neighbourhood Team has released an image of the tag which appeared on the wall of the community centre, and are appealing to anyone who can help identify those responsible to come forward.

PCSO Mark Emsley, of Harrogate Outer Safer Neighbourhood Team, said:

This type of mindless vandalism is frustrating for residents as it is unsightly and costs time and money to have it removed.

I’m sure someone will recognise the tag from the photo we have released and I am hoping someone can help us locate the offenders.

Anyone who can help officers with their enquiries is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for Alex Emsley or Harrogate police.

Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
