We are all affected by the death of a loved one but losing a child is one of the most difficult a parent and their families will ever have to deal with.

Borough Council’s Bereavement Services Team is working with the and Branches of SANDS (Stillborn and Neonatal Death Society) to organise a special ceremony for bereaved parents and their families.

Everyone affected, no matter how long ago, is welcome to attend this Service of Gentle Remembrance at ’s Stonefall Cemetery on Road on Saturday, 15 September 2012 between 2.00 and 4.00 pm.

The service will include music and words to remember and the opportunity to talk to others who have had a similar experience.

There will be refreshments after the service and as well as time to visit the SANDS garden in the grounds of the cemetery which is dedicated to the memory of babies and children.

The aim of SANDS is to support anyone affected by the death of a baby; working in partnership with health professionals to improve the quality of care and services offered to bereaved families; and promote research and changes in practice that could help reduce the loss of babies’ lives.

If you require any further information, please contact info@leeds-sands.org.uk or call on 07518 917594. Alternatively, details may be obtained from Stonefall Cemetery Office on 01423 883523.
