Yorkshire staff get ready to give away up to £500 to local charities

Jon Vening the Society’s North Yorkshire Area Manager said:

Make A Difference week has always been a brilliant success that gives some of our smaller charities the chance to get a helping hand.

Yorkshire is committed to supporting local communities, where our members and staff live and work and we are hoping that by having members of the public call in and nominate their favourite we are hoping we can help support some of the smaller good causes that can often be overlooked for a donation.

I hope anybody passing one our branches in North Yorkshire between 17th and 25th August will pop in, pick up a nomination form and tell us who they want to see receive £100.

The money donated to the nominated charities through ‘Make A Difference Week’ is largely funded by the Society’s innovative ‘Small Change Big Difference’ scheme. Members of the Society can choose to donate pennies from the interest they receive on their accounts to the Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation.

To nominate your favourite of good cause pop into your local branch in either Northallerton, Pickering, Richmond, Scarborough, Whitby, , Knaresborough, Selby or and pick up a nomination form.

  1. My reccommendation would be the Samaritains. There are branches all around the region who have to raise funds to keep their branch going. I’m aware of branches in York, Harrogate, Scarborough and Northallerton that would greatly appreciate funding to help them continue providing an excelent service.
