Home care and dementia care specialist expanding

17 July 2012

A specialist provider of home care and dementia care services to elderly people has moved to larger offices at Oakwood Park Business Centre in order to meet the growing demand for its services.

Carefound was established in 2011 by Oliver Stirk to meet a need for a higher standard of care services in elderly people’s own homes around the Harrogate, Ripon and Wetherby area. The team is trained to provide a wide range of services from basic help in the home and companionship, through to personal care, medication help and post-operative rehabilitation. The company prides itself on working directly with families and does not provide visits of less than one hour.

Oliver Stirk commented:

We are of course delighted to see such strong demand for our home care service. The fact that we are a local, independent company has meant that we have been able to shape our service to meet the precise needs of the families we help. It has also enabled us to create an environment in which our staff are supported to provide an excellent quality of care in the home, something which will be hugely important in improving the lives of our elderly population in the future.

Our new offices at Oakwood Park will help us accommodate a growing office and community based team. They also provide us with better disabled access and private rooms in which our Home Care Manager can hold confidential meetings with families as they begin the process of considering elderly care. We are always keen to encourage families to pop in should they wish to learn more about Carefound or discuss their specific circumstances in confidence.

Oliver attributes the growing interest in Carefound’s service to the fact that it includes specialist help for people who suffer from dementia. All members of its home care team receive dementia training during their induction, before being put on a dementia focused Health and Social Care Diploma after six months with the company.

Oliver added:

We are continuously developing the knowledge building of dementia amongst our team and see this as extremely important in improving outcomes for our clients. Although we recognise that there are instances where residential care is the best option, we believe that with specialist help from professional, well trained carers many more people who suffer from dementia will be able to remain at home in the future.

Carefound recently underwent its annual inspection from the national regulator, the Care Quality Commission, the results of which have been made available on both the company’s website (www.carefound.co.uk) and the regulator’s website (www.cqc.org.uk). Carefound is currently recruiting for a Home Care Coordinator based at Oakwood Park, Harrogate and Home Carers in Harrogate, Ripon and Wetherby (Contact: enquiries@carefound.co.uk, 01423 774070)
