23 May 2012

Ripon police have released CCTV stills of a suspect and her vehicle following the theft of plants from a garden centre near the city.

It occurred at 12pm on Tuesday 15 May 2012, from a shop at the Himalayan Garden near Grewelthorpe.

Officers are trying to trace a woman, who had entered the garden without paying, selected several hundred pounds worth of plants which she wanted to pay for with her credit card. The assistant told her that the card machine was in the tea room. The woman went to the tea room where she bought a drink but did not pay for the plants. She then left in a red Range Rover.

The woman is described as white, around 5ft 6in tall with blonde shoulder length hair. She was wearing a faux leather cream jacket, a white jumper and blue chinos.

PC Gareth Jones, of Ripon Safer Neighbourhood Team, said:

I urge anyone who can identify the woman seen on CCTV to contact the police of Crimestoppers straight away.

Not paying for the plants may be a genuine oversight. If this is the case, I ask the woman to get in touch immediately so that we can rectify the issue.
