A dress fit for a Queen at this year’s Great Yorkshire Show

22 May 2012

Fashion designer Kelly Ewing is flying the flag for Britain after unveiling her latest catwalk creation.

The Leeds-based fashionista, who already counts X-Factor winners Little Mix and Amelia Lily amongst her customers, has designed a striking red, white and blue Jubilee dress to celebrate the Queen’s special anniversary next month.

And the handmade bespoke dress, created in silk, will take centre stage on the catwalk at England’s premier agricultural show, the Great Yorkshire Show, in July.

Kelly said:

It’s a very eye-catching dress and I am very patriotic. I was made in Great Britain and everything about this dress is sourced in Great Britain and made in Great Britain.

It’s a great dress to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Kelly’s bespoke dress, with a traditional steel-boned Victorian corset top, mixes hand-made silk union jacks, cut into patchwork pieces, with cream raw silk. It is topped with a hat created by York-based milliner Elizabeth Parker, who has made hats for Dita Von Teese and Beth Ditto.

And it is sure to be one of the main attractions at the Great Yorkshire Show, which sees thousands of animals competing for the coveted red rosettes along with fashion shows, cookery demonstrations, top-class showjumping and award winning gardens.
