The Harrogate and Ilkley-based charity, Acorn, held its annual Bridge Day at Goldsborough Hall last week attracting 96 bridge enthusiasts. Mr and Mrs Mark Oglesby of Goldsborough Hall Hotel hosted the day which was kindly organised by Steve and Ruth Vollar. The event raised £900 for Acorn’s chosen charities.
This year’s winners were Brenda Edmondson and Annette Thomas with Jacqueline Davidson and Liz St Urdy as runners-up.
Chairman Louise Hanen says, ‘We are so grateful to Mr and Mrs Oglesby for hosting this event again, to Steve and Ruth Vollar who helped us to organise the day and to everyone who supported us by donating a raffle prize or attending the event.’
The next Acorn event is the Moonlight and Mistletoe party at the Yorkshire Showground on Saturday 10th December and there are just a few tickets remaining. For more information, please contact Louise Hanen on 01423 734876. Next year’s Bridge Day will take place at Goldsborough Hall on Thursday 18th October 2012.
The Acorn Committee has raised over £700,000 for the local Alzheimer’s Society and for research into Scleroderma disease at Leeds General Infirmary.
