National Dressage Championships for HLC teacher

31 August 2011

Head of PE at HLC (Harrogate Ladies’ College) has qualified to compete in the National Dressage Championships at Stoneleigh in September after a wildcard phone call from British Dressage.

Nicky Butters thought she had missed the chance to compete at Stoneleigh after she placed third in the Northern Regional Finals where only the top two qualified for Nationals, but a phone call from the British Dressage this week gave Nicky a rare opportunity. Nicky had been selected through the wildcard system in which the best runners-up from all the regions are invited to go to the Championships.

This is the chance of a lifetime for Nicky who has been riding since she was six. The current horse she is training is named Weltano Watson. Nicky bought him when he was three years old and broke him in herself, although she is now having regular training for Dressage from Ian Brown who is based in Northallerton. With Nicky’s dedication to the sport and to her horse there is no doubt she will do well.
