Man rescued from 5-metre deep construction trench in Harrogate after 7-hours

A man has been rescued after falling into a 5 metre deep construction trench in Harrogate, with a multi-agency response taking 7 hours to free him.

The incident happened at just before 9am this morning (6 April 2018) on Rossett Green Lane in Harrogate. A construction worker fell and became trapped in a 5-metre deep excavation for sewerage works.

It took a response from the Police, Ambulance, North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue along with specialist recovery teams from West Yorkshire.

 

 

The man was eventually freed at around 15:45 and was reported to have been in good health and not significantly injured by his ordeal.

 

 

Air Ambulance was mobilised to the scene, but not believed to have been needed
