Bugs on the loose in the Pinewoods!

9 October 2017

Harrogate based charity Pinewoods Conservation Group (PCG) is encouraging residents and visitors into the Pinewoods to celebrate its 15 years anniversary.

The group was formed in October 2002 and was formally given charity status on 30 January 2003.

To celebrate this anniversary the charity has launched “Pinewood Rocks” to encourage residents and visitors alike into the woods between now and its’ official birthday on 30 January 2018.

A number of painted rocks will been hidden within the woods for visitors to find from Saturday 14 October 2017.

People are asked to share images of themselves and rocks online and then re-hide them for others to find.

Residents are also encouraged to paint and hide their own rocks adding “Pinewoods Rocks” and their name to the stones. A prize is being offered for the best painted rock.

PCG Secretary Lucy Hind said:

We were made aware of people painting rocks for others to find elsewhere in the country and thought it was a great idea. We are always encouraging people to visit and enjoy The Pinewoods and hope this initiative will encourage even more visitors over the winter months.

Those finding rocks are encouraged to post on twitter using the hashtag #PinewoodsRocks or via the special Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/PinewoodsRocks/.

Rocks hidden by the PCG will be numbered with more added over the 3 months.
