Following on from a successful USA season, where he exceeded 8 metres for the first time, and broke Oklahoma State Universities, indoor and outdoor school records, Harrogate long Jumper Jacob Fincham-Dukes, returned to the UK in great form.

At Bedford he won his fifth successive age group England Championship Gold medal, spanning, the Under 17, Under20 and Under 23 age groups, a feat not achieved by any other UK long jumper.

He followed that up, as the youngest competitor, this weekend, when he competed in the World Trials at Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium and won his first senior medal, winning the bronze medal jumping 7.90 metres.

Jacob heads out to Bydgoszcz in Poland to represent Great Britain at the European Under 23 championships from 13th to 16th July where he is looking to go one better than his silver medal gained in the European Junior Championships in 2015.

Jacob said: I had a few injuries last year following an increase in the intensity of my training but have adapted much better and this year has seen greater distances and more consistency in my jumping. I cant wait to represent my country in Poland and feel I have a real chance of winning, despite competing against athletes two years older.
