Harrogate McDonald’s set to re-open following revamp

27 January 2016

The McDonald’s on Cambridge Road has undergone a transformation following investment from local franchisee Pritpal Singh to improve the customer experience – the restaurant is due to re-open its doors on 28 January 2016.

This significant investment demonstrates the ongoing commitment from all McDonald’s franchisees’ to towns across the UK as part of an extensive restaurant evolution programme. Many of the new features from Harrogate will be appearing in other McDonald’s restaurants across the UK.

  • State of the art, self-order kiosks will give customers the option of a brand new experience when choosing and ordering their food at McDonald’s
  • Browse the entire menu and check out the nutritional information of each meal at the same time.
  • Pay by card or contactless, and then go straight to a designated area of the counter to pick up their order
  • In the kitchens, new lay-outs and increased technology means McDonald’s iconic products will be made specially to order for customers

To complete the digital transformation, free to use tablets have been installed at some tables for customers who want to check their newsfeed and emails or play the latest games. The restaurant redesigns will also include a striking new décor to create an enjoyable space for everyone to enjoy.

Local franchisee Pritpal Singh started his career at McDonald’s as a trainee manager nearly 33 years ago and now runs the Harrogate restaurant as well as 23 restaurants in Yorkshire. His restaurants contribute £22.8 million to the local economy and he employs over 1600 people.

Pritpal Singh said:

I am thrilled to be opening my new look restaurant in Harrogate alongside my team. As a local businessman I’m very keen to continue to invest in my community.

By staying ahead of customer expectations I want to ensure every customer receives the quickest and strongest service possible.

The new technology we’ve introduced recognises the way people live their lives today with choice at the forefront. My team has also thoroughly embraced the changes, commenting on how it’s helped to give customers a fast and easy experience.

To ensure we continue to create an outstanding customer experience, I am also continuing to invest in my people through our industry-leading training programmes and career opportunities.
