Three taken to hospital following collision between school bus and taxi

Police are currently at the scene of a minor road traffic collision involving a school bus and a mini bus taxi in Harrogate.

The incident involved the 620H school bus, provided by Murgatroydson, on the A59 Skipton road at Rowden Lane ends at around 8.20am today, Wednesday 21 October 2015. (Near the Nelson Inn)

  • The white and blue school bus was carrying 59 pupils from Rossett School.
  • The pupils and the driver of the bus were uninjured in the collision.
  • The white mini bus taxi was a carrying a child and an adult.
  • Both passengers and the driver have been taken to Harrogate District hospital although their injuries are believed to be minor.

The road is expected to re-open shortly.

Rossett School headteacher Helen Woodcock said:

Following a collision involving a school bus carrying Rossett students this morning, we can confirm that all our students have arrived safely at school.

A replacement bus arrived within half an hour and the students were brought to school, where staff have spoken to them and offered any support they need. Parents have been notified by the school.

We are grateful to North Yorkshire Police for responding swiftly to the collision.
