Harrogate High School holds successful careers fair

4 February 2014

Harrogate High School held its third annual careers fair and pathway planning day where students go off timetable to meet with their personal tutor and attend the careers fair to find out about the different industries they could work in.

The Pathway Planning consists of each student coming into school with their parents for a short meeting with their form tutor. During this meeting they discuss what the student would like to do as a career and from this their tutor is able to identify subjects and extra-curricular activities that might be of interest to them. An analysis is also done on current grades and attainment levels to keep students up-to-date with their subjects.

After their meeting, students then get the opportunity to go down to the hall and take part in the careers fair – this year boasted 35 different businesses from around the country! Businesses included local organisations such as Harrogate Theatre, Acceleris Communications, Bishopton Veterinary Group, Covance, North Yorkshire Police and Intuitions as well as from further afield including Teeside University, Welcome to Yorkshire, Royal Air Force, McDonalds, Leeds College of Building and Leeds United Foundation.
