Harrogate Railway Ladies played the last game off the season today at home against Brayton Belles and came away winning 4-1.

As Railway had already won the league title last week it was to be a party atmosphere, but Brayton had different ideas and worked very hard to spoil the party. Railway pressed hard with good chances being made from midd field with Nicola Hadley, Jodie Hodgson and Ellie Mcleod holding strong, but Rail struggled to beat Braytons defence.

Not until Dee Swales, out on the right, crossed into Hannah Campbell who went into the box, Hannah was taken down by the defender and was awarded the penalty, she calmly stroked the ball into the bottom left corner, 1-0.

Railway pressed for another but as they did Brayton found chances coming there way and Rails keeper Emma Prest was forced into some good saves.

Half time 1-0

Railways manager wanted a bit more speed on the passing and moving for the second half and this he got, as the ball was played wide to the left for Sandra Clark to use her speed and get the crosses into the box, railway could not get the finishing touches though. On the 50th minute Lauren Taylor fed the ball through to Hannah who went one on one to beat the keeper, 2-0.

Brayton were not beaten yet and only 5 minutes later a ball played, over the top beating rails defence, found their forward chipping the ball over Emmas head to score a good goal, 2-1. Railway were not rattled and put the pressure straight back on forcing 3 corners in quick succession the third allowing Lauren to head the 3rd goal for Railway, 3-1.

Railways defence, Aly Purvis, Emma Lansdall, Kat Purvis and Issy Rowe kept Brayton out for the remainder of the game and on the 89th minute Hannah struck a killer of a shot to make it 4-1.

All year long the Railway Ladies have performed extremely well and truly deserved the Premiere Title, as some of the ladies move onto new things next year and leave the squad Railway wish them all the best and good luck.

In the mean time the squad are now looking for new players to come along and fill the spaces, any one 16yrs and over can contact Simon 07740591697 for more information.
