Final preparations are well under way for a North Yorkshire inn’s annual music and beer festival.

Thousands of visitors are expected to descend on the T&R Theakston-owned White Bear Hotel, in Masham, for the three-day event which begins on the afternoon of Friday, June 22.

In addition to the full range of Theakston ales available inside the popular inn, real ale connoisseurs will be treated to a further 30 beers from breweries around the country.

The musical entertainment is being provided by six solo artists and bands, playing a range of differing styles, including jazz, blues and folk.

Sue Thomas, General Manager of the White Bear Hotel, said:

From what initially started out as a small scale affair 11 years ago, our beer festival has become a major three-day event, attracting thousands of people from far and wide.

It has become a firm fixture on both ours and Masham’s calendar, and one that sees scores of familiar faces returning year after year.

This year’s White Bear Beer Festival is our biggest and best to date. We have a magnificent selection of cask ales, including the superb beers brewed here, in Masham.

Our musical lineup is our strongest yet, and the six acts will have feet tapping throughout the weekend. We also have a cooper display by Jonathan Manby, the Theakston Cooper.

It is very much a family-orientated weekend and admission is free. On the Friday and the Saturday there is a hog roast, whilst on the Sunday our chefs are cooking a barbecue.

The entertainment lineup is as follows:

  • Friday early evening; Scott Adams followed by Borderline
  • Saturday early afternoon; Mick and Susie Darling & The Rascals
  • Saturday afternoon, Cooperage Demonstration
  • Saturday, late afternoon; The Conspirators
  • Saturday, 8.30pm; The Lowtones
  • Sunday afternoon; Mike Green’s Jazz Band
