Harrogate Town AFC’s home ground has been officially renamed the Marcy Fitness Stadium as part of a major rebranding strategy by its stadium naming rights partner.
The change marks a shift from the previous ‘Exercise Stadium’ moniker, aligning the club with the global legacy of the Marcy fitness brand.
Ben Rome (Strength and Conditioning Coach, Harrogate Town AFC):
This is a hugely exciting moment for the club. To be working alongside a global brand with the heritage, reputation and ambition of Marcy is a significant step for us. The renaming of the Marcy Fitness Stadium reflects the strength of our partnership and the shared vision we have for the future. The investment into our training facilities and first-team environment will have a real impact, and we are looking forward to entering this new era together.
David Gilson (Managing Director, Pure-tec Limited):
Exercise has proudly sponsored the Harrogate Town stadium for the past two seasons, but as the company moves into a new and exciting era of international expansion, the time is right to focus on our core brand, Marcy, which celebrates its 80th anniversary this year. The new Marcy Fitness Stadium illustrates our commitment to continuing the legacy of Dr. Walter Marcyan, and look forward to sharing his principles of fitness, health and wellbeing with the team, supporters and wider community.
The transition coincides with the 80th anniversary of Marcy, a brand distributed exclusively in the UK and Europe by Pure-tec Limited. Beyond the stadium gates, the expanded partnership will directly fuel a comprehensive overhaul of Harrogate Town’s elite training infrastructure.
Key Highlights of the Partnership
- Immediate Effect: Physical and digital stadium branding transitions to Marcy Fitness Stadium starting today.
- Training Ground Upgrade: The club’s Rothwell training base will receive a total re-fit with elite-tier Marcy strength and conditioning equipment.
- Global Alignment: Harrogate Town will serve as an official brand ambassador for Marcy as the company expands its retail footprint across 50 countries.
- Historical Legacy: The rebrand celebrates 80 years since fitness pioneer Dr Walter Marcyan founded the company in 1946.
Elite Performance Impact
The agreement goes far beyond a traditional badging exercise. By integrating Marcy’s industry-leading technology into daily operations, Harrogate Town aims to significantly optimize its first-team sports science and injury-prevention capabilities.
A History of Innovation
Founded in 1946, Marcy revolutionised fitness by helping to create the blueprint for the modern commercial gym industry. The brand invented the first ‘home multi-gym’ in 1959 and was an early pioneer in promoting women’s gym participation. Today, Marcy products are available worldwide through leading retailers including Argos, Boots, Costco, Decathlon, Very.com, and Fitshop.
The Marcy Fitness Stadium name takes effect immediately, with digital and physical updates currently underway across all club assets.
