“The Lounge Café” at St Mark’s on Leeds Road has a resident host so that everyone coming to enjoy morning coffee or a light lunch is personally met and welcomed.
Regular events ranging from talks, music, and activities – is planned to foster friendships and promote wellbeing.
The first, aimed at seniors, is from Police Community Support Officers, Olivia Bigsby and Richard Northcott, giving advice on phone safety, scams and personal security. It takes place at 10.30 am on Tuesday 26th May 2026.
Ethically sourced speciality and filter coffees, hot chocolate and teas, savoury rolls and salad, cakes, tray bakes and teacakes are served at The Lounge Café on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 am until 1.30. with last orders for lunches at 1pm.
The transformation of the church’s former community room into a vibrant, light, warm and welcoming lounge/cafe is breathtaking. There are bright new tables and chairs, comfy armchairs, servery counter and kitchen, while lively chatter from volunteers and staff radiate through the building.
To get to The Lounge Café, there is a No 36 bus stop immediately outside the church, also free parking in St Mark’s car park.

We are incredibly excited for the future of The Lounge Café.
We would like it to become the hub of local life, bringing people from all ages and backgrounds together giving older people, young mums and visitors to the town, a real sense of community and friendship.
