Additional charges following Pateley Bridge hit-and-run collision

A man has been charged with two further offences as the investigation into the fatal hit-and-run collision in Pateley Bridge continues.

In December, officers charged a 25-year-old man with:

  • Driving a motor vehicle when over the prescribed limit
  • Using a motor vehicle on a road public/place without insurance

The same man has now also been charged with failing to stop after a road traffic collision and failing to report a road traffic collision.

He is due to appear at court on the 12 February 2026.

The man also remains under investigation for the offence of causing death by dangerous driving.

Officers continue to appeal for any information about the fatal collision which sadly claimed the life of 19-year-old Bailey Chadwick.

The incident happened in the early hours of Sunday 20 July 2025 on the B6265 at Lupton Bank between Glasshouses and Pateley Bridge.
