Harrogate resident and gym instructor Carl Robinson who also works at the F45 gym, ran 100 KM around the stray on the 1st of January, to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK, which was supported by members of the gym.
Carl who is originally from Bishop Auckland, started running on the Harrogate stray on New Year’s Day before first light and had already done 50k by 10am, he was joined by members of the gym during the day [see picture]. He completed 100.01 KM in an amazing 12 hours and 57 minutes.
A key part of the run was not only to fund raise but to raise awareness of Prostate Cancer. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. 1 in 8 men will get it, and if you’re Black, the risk is doubled.
Raising money for Prostate Cancer UK is a cause Carl also takes personally because it has affected a number of male family members.
Carl who has previously been a professional football player for Newcastle United says: “Men should check themselves daily for any abnormalities, as if caught early can be quickly treated and resolved.”
Money raised will go to Prostate Cancer UK. So far, Carl has raised from the run £981.25, donations can still be made via Carlrobinson on Facebook and Carlrobinsonpt on Instagram.
