The south-bound carriageway of the A1(M) near Catterick, between junctions 52 and 51 – was closed while police investigate a serious collision between a car and a lorry.
It happened at around 2.20am on Saturday 8 November 2025. It is believed the car had been travelling behind the lorry, and it ended up in the central reservation.
The man driving the car was taken to hospital with serious injuries, and the lorry driver was uninjured.
National Highways is managed the road closure and diversion around the collision scene via the A6055.
