Would you fly from Italy to Leeds for Rose Gray?

On the 10 October, Rose Gray lit up the Wardrobe Leeds, with a high energy performance that had the crowd dancing from start to finish.

By speaking to fans, It became apparent the significance that Rose holds within the pop community. A self-proclaimed mega fan claimed each track on her albums stands out, curating a beautiful blend within the tracks, including her new single April which is a particular highlight; paired with the disco ball and strobe lights, there was a euphoric feeling in the crowd, with fans dancing shoulder to shoulder. A fan mentioned the song feels like the feeling of a club night out with the ones you love the most, dancing with no other worries, one fan told me, and this description perfectly captures the joy she brings to shows.

This same feeling is carried throughout other fan favourites with “everything changes”, “wet and wild”, and “angel of satisfaction”. Her music is particularly popular within the LGBTQIA+ community, and celebrated for being for “girls, gays, and theys”, the phrase was proudly echoed throughout the night. Rose leans into this vibe with her fashion style being alternative with her full glam, and her collab with Kesha. A fan I got the opportunity to speak to show the dedication and loyalty of her fanbase, having flown from Italy to Leeds!

At the show, Rose Grays gig opened with a DJ, warming up the audience with pop classics like brat from charli xcx and the dare, leaning into the boiler room dj energy with a mirror backdrop, reflecting the lights, setting the tone for the night. Rose began her set in the middle of the crowd and walked to the stage with a spotlight facing her, This simple but effective moment showed her love for her fanbase. The crowd were high-energy, loveable people who made the night enjoyable, with some girls getting on each others shoulders.

Rose Gray stands out as a unique sound, destined to be a music idol. She mixes 2000s club nostalgia like Avril Lavigne with modern pop flair like Addison Rae, sounding futuristic. If you’re into DJ sets and high energy performances of pop idols, make sure to get yourself to one of her gigs now, I really recommend. The rising pop prodigy based in London will be playing in her hometown in London on the 13th and 14th October, and continuing her EU tour starting in Amsterdam, get you tickets now!
