Harrogate Bus Company hosts a Macmillan Coffee Morning

1 October 2025

The team at The Harrogate Bus Company decided to stage a Macmillan Coffee Morning, and across the Transdev group have raised £800.

The bus firm’s Project and Marketing Manager, Matt Burley, said:

Several of our team baked their own home-made cakes to serve alongside hot drinks – while others who were a little less skilled in the kitchen bought cakes to top up the tables.

We know Macmillan Cancer Support works locally in our community right here in Harrogate, through the Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Centre at Harrogate District Hospital, one of just six of its kind across the country.

This year Macmillan is celebrating 35 years of fundraising coffee mornings, and we decided to do something practical to help. Not all of us are natural bakers, but the cakes – whether homemade or not – and the drinks went down well, and more importantly, helped us to support cancer care on our doorstep.

Macmillan Coffee Mornings are now the biggest fundraising mission in the UK to support people living with cancer.
