Harrogate & District Allotment Federation will be holding its 64th Annual Allotment Show in the Sun Pavilion in the Valley Gardens on Sunday 17th August 2025 from 11.00 – 16.00.
The Show provides allotment plot holders from across Harrogate, Ripon, Knaresborough and Boroughbridge with the opportunity to showcase their gardening achievements, which range from prize fruit and vegetables to beautiful flowers; and to exhibit their perfect baking and preserves made from home grown produce. Children can show off their creative skills too. This year’s Show Schedule includes the Heaviest Onion, the Longest Runner Bean, an Arrangement in a Basket, Largest Sunflower Head, Four Cupcakes made with allotment produce and, in the children’s classes, a Planted Child’s Wellie and a Rocket made from Vegetables
The Allotment sites will also be producing ‘Mellow Yellow’ arrangements to include flowers, fruit and vegetables for this year’s Allotment Competition.
Judging will take place between 10.00 and 12.00 after which the Show will be opened by the Town Council Mayor, Chris Aldred, and you will then be able to view the exhibits and results.
Trophies will be awarded at the end of the show by Nick Smith, Director of the Harrogate Flower Shows.
Entry to the Show is free. Cakes, produce and plants donated by the district’s plot holders will be for sale; there will be a tombola stall and, as always, a fantastic raffle with prizes including a Family pass to RHS Harlow Carr, afternoon tea for two at Rudding Park, £25 RHS voucher and many more.
In addition, local organisations Harrogate Civic Society, Harrogate in Bloom, Ripon Museums Trust, Harrogate Easier Living Project and Yorkshire Wildlife Trust will have stalls providing information and activities. Coffee and cakes will be available from the Caffe Aperitivo Van and there will be music from 1.30pm provided by the No Lazy Dancing Dance Band.
