Local people, businesses and padel enthusiasts came together in Harrogate on Sunday 29thMarch for a fundraising initiative, “Padel with Purpose”, raising £1,785 for two much-needed local charities.
The event, which took place at Surge Padel in Harrogate, saw teams compete in a fast-paced two-hour tournament, bringing together players of all abilities for an afternoon of sport, connection and community spirit.
Funds raised will be split between non-for-profit care provider, Harrogate Neighbours and Saint Michael’s Hospice, both of which provide vital support services for people across the Harrogate district.
Sue Cawthray, CEO of Harrogate Neighbours, said:
Padel with Purpose has been a fantastic example of what can be achieved when the community comes together.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who took part and supported the event. The funds raised will make a real difference to the people we support every day, and it was a joy to see so much energy and enthusiasm on the court for such an important cause.
The initiative highlighted the strength of local collaboration, with Harrogate-based businesses and passionate padel players uniting to support organisations that play a crucial role in caring for residents and families when they need it most.
Sophie Fisher, Partnership Executive at Saint Michael’s Hospice said:
It was a brilliant afternoon enjoyed by all and we are so thankful to everyone involved in organising and supporting us.
Every pound raised helps us continue to provide compassionate care and support for people and their families across our community, and we are deeply appreciative of this partnership.
The event was described by many as a resounding success, with plans already being discussed for future collaborations to build on the momentum of the community coming together to support one another.
