Five in court after lorry theft earlier this week

Five men are due to appear in court after they were arrested following a report of stolen lorries from near Harrogate.

At around 4.40am in the early hours of 4 November 2025, police received a report that two vehicles had been stolen from a commercial premises in the Harrogate area.

One of the vehicles was located, a large lorry, travelling with a car along the A59, and heading towards Skipton.

Police followed the vehicles and the lorry was brought to a stop in the village of Addingham. The suspect left the scene, and was subsequently tracked by a police dog, and arrested.

The car had been intercepted and stopped by other officers, and the three men inside were arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft of a motor vehicle.

A fifth suspect was arrested later that day after residents became suspicious of a man trying to get a lift out of the area.

All five suspects, who are from the Leeds area and aged between 30 and 47, have been charged with two counts of vehicle theft and one of burglary.

The driver of the lorry was also charged with driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.

Both vehicles have been recovered.
