Reverend & The Makers to play Bilton WMC, part of old socials club tour

26 September 2025

Reverend & The Makers have today released their new single ‘UFO’ on Distiller Records and announced the Old Socials Clubs Tour, including the Bilton WMC in Harrogate.

A groovy, sceptic’s rumination on our fixation with alien life, featuring gorgeous trumpets from Laura McClure, ‘UFO’ is the third single to be unveiled from the Sheffield 5-piece’s eighth studio album, ‘Is This How Happiness Feels’, which is set for release on April 24th, 2026.

This new single comes hot on the heels of Reverend & The Makers biggest headline show to date at Rock N Roll Circus in Sheffield, where the band celebrated their 20-year anniversary with a triumphant homecoming performance for 30,000 fans at Don Valley Bowl.

Speaking about new single ‘UFO’, frontman Jon McClure says:

I used to think UFO types were barmy. But maybe they’re not. Nobody knows, do they really?

What is for certain is that if aliens do come, we should sort our shit out here on earth beforehand.

‘UFO’ is the third single to be shared from Reverend & The Makers forthcoming studio album ‘Is This How Happiness Feels’, following previous releases ‘Late Night Phone Call’ and the irresistible summer anthem ‘Haircut’, which featured a duet with Jon and Vicky McClure. The two pals, who co-founded Day Disco, were interviewed and performed together on BBC’s The One Show. Jon McClure was also a sofa guest on BBC Breakfast, which saw ‘Haircut’ soar to no.1 position on iTunes.

The single comes alongside the announcement of the Old Socials Clubs Tour which will see Reverend & The Makers embark on a special 7-date underplay tour of intimate venues in November and December – see below:

  • 26th Nov Carlisle, The Brickyard
  • 27th Nov Dunfermline, British Legion

  • 4th Dec London, Peckham Liberal Club

Frontman Jon McClure, said:

Is This How Happiness Feels’ was produced by Danny Lafrombé and Jon McClure and is the follow up to Reverend & The Makers Top 10 album ‘Heatwave In The Cold North’.

The Sheffield quintet’s eagerly awaited new album is their most musically accomplished yet, merging vintage, sparkling, life-affirming soul with contemporary lyrical storytelling.

This album has been a labour of love owing to personal reasons but has emerged as a joyous triumph.

It’s easily the best thing we’ve ever done and will surprise a few people too.

Alan Huddart, Club Secretary at the Bilton Working Men’s Club, said:

We’re excited to be attracting bands of this stature and that there’s more to come!

Reverend & The Makers’ seventh studio album, ‘Heatwave In The Cold North,’ hit No. 6 on the Official Charts in 2023, giving the band a remarkable unbroken streak of seven Top 20 albums to their name. This marked their first Top 10 album since their 2007 debut, ‘The State of Things,’ which reached No. 5, and also delivered their biggest single in over a decade.

Reverend & The Makers are: Jon McClure (lead singer), Ed Cosens (guitar), Laura McClure (keys/vocals), Antonia Pooles (bass), Ryan Jenkinson (drums)
