The Haçienda comes to Harrogate

Ex-Haçienda DJ Graeme Park will be visiting Harrogate on Wednesday (4 July 2018) evening for a live interview and Q&A before playing a 3-hour set.

Graeme started his career in the early 80’s, working in a record shop in Nottingham. He was quick to pick up on the then new house music coming in from Chicago and began to DJ at the record shop owners newly opened club.

The music then became the foundation of the Haçienda club in Manchester, that eventually closed for good in the 90’s and is now flats.

Graeme himself talks about the chapters in his life and is now in a chapter when he is still in demand, but expanding the variety of his music – he doesn’t want to be thought of for just House Music.

Graeme Park most recently played Harrogate around 6 years ago, the venue that is now the Potting Shed – it was a big night!

The event will be hosted by Dean Sowden that many will know as the talent behind Deano’s and now Scran. Dean has been a long-time fan of House Music and Graeme.

His interest has more recently been revived with the DJ revivals and Classical Mix Orchestras.

Dean said:

In my late teens and early 20’s I lived in Harrogate, but would often travel to Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester and Sheffield for Up Yer Ronson, Haçienda, The Gallery, Cream, Gatecrasher and Back to Basics. I first met Graeme at the Ministry of Sound and a few times since then – he’s a friendly guy and continues to develop his music.

This should be a great night, Graeme is always interesting to talk to and a 3 hour set should be something special.
