Hundreds join the celebrations at hospice open day

11 October 2015

Martin House Children’s Hospice this week opened its doors to the public, welcoming over 500 supporters to its annual Open Day on Sunday.

The event, whose attendees included celebrity Ambassadors, Christine Talbot, Jeff Hordley, Zoe Henry, Ryan Sidebottom and Mike Heaton, proved a huge hit with the local community. Visitors came from across Yorkshire, and beyond, to offer their support and celebrate a fantastic year of fundraising for the charity.

Community Fundraiser, Sarah Tarpey, said:

This year was a particularly special one for staff and volunteers at the hospice, and it was wonderful to see so many supporters, and a few of our families, joining us on the day.

The theme of Hospice Care Week this week (5-11 October) is Connecting Care and our Open Day was a perfect example of how important our communities are in spreading the word about hospice care for children and young people.

We are so grateful to everyone who supported us this weekend, and over the past 28 years. Without them, we would simply not exist. Thank you!
