Motorcyclist dies in Tadcaster collision

A motorcyclist has died following a collision near Tadcaster on the night of Thursday 8 October 2015.

It happened on Toulston Lane at the junction with Rudgate, near Tadcaster Grammer School at around 5.20pm.

It involved a red Vauxhall Astra travelling along Rudgate and a Triumph motorcycle travelling along Toulston Lane in the company of another motorbike.

As a result of the collision the rider of the motorbike, a man aged in his 60s from the local area, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene of the crash.

Police are appealing to anyone who saw either of the vehicles prior to the incident or who witnessed the actual collision, to contact them.

The driver of the Vauxhall Astra, a 44-year-old woman from Barnsley, was arrested at the scene of the collision and has been released on police bail while enquiries continue.
