Woman dies following collision with telegraph pole near Northallerton

A  woman has died following a road traffic collision near Hornby, Northallerton.

It happened at around 3.54am in the early hours of Sunday 7 June 2015, on the B1264 which leads from Toll Bar Garage at Entercommon, to Low Worsall.

The collision occurred at the junction with an unclassified road that leads to Girsby and Over Dinsdale when a silver Ford Ka, travelling towards Low Worsall, left the road and collided with a telegraph pole.

The car had two occupants – a man and a woman.

The woman, who is aged 30 and from the Ormesby area of Middlesbrough, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The man, aged 39, sustained serious injuries and was taken to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough where he remains in a serious condition.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw a silver Ford Ka travelleing along the B1264 prior to the crash, is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for the Major Collision Investigation Team at Thirsk or email MCIT@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk

The road was closed to allow emergency services to deal with the collision and to allow investigators to examine the scene. It reopened at around 9 am.
