Pensioner dies in A65 collision

Police have said that a pensioner has died as a result road traffic collision on the A65 near Austwick.

It happened at around 10.55am on Friday 15 May 2015, a white camper van which was travelling towards Skipton crossed into the opposite lane and collided with a black Skoda car travelling in the other direction.

The driver of the camper van, a 75-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident.

The road was closed until 4.45pm while police conducted their enquiries into the collision.

Officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle prior to the incident to contact them with information.

Anyone who can help officers with their enquiries is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for Traffic Constable Martin Hayes.
