Trading Standards goes social

4 November 2014

The Council’s Trading Standards team has set up a Facebook page and a Twitter account to highlight alerts and warnings.

The two new social media services to help people across North Yorkshire be on their guard against rogue traders and their scams have been launched by North Yorkshire County Council.

County Councillor Chris Metcalfe, Executive Member for Trading Standards said: Rogue traders rob people of tens of thousands of pounds every year.

In North Yorkshire, we’re determined to do all we can to stop them getting their hands on people’s hard-earned money. Social media sites like Facebook and Twitter are an increasingly important way of getting that message across, and of highlighting the scams and scammers to which consumers might fall victim.

The Facebook page can be found by searching for North Yorkshire Trading Standards or by this link https://www.facebook.com/pages/North-Yorkshire-Trading-Standards/1470314466562630
