Gateways School students receive Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards at St James’s Palace

11 December 2013

Recently eight students from Gateways School in Harewood travelled down to London to receive their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards from HRH Prince Philip at St James’s Palace.

Hannah Cheshire, Imogen Coughlan, Jessica Cressey, Francesca Jackson-Spence, Emma Jarvis, Rhian Miles, Evelyn Prescott and Charlotte Wood all received their Gold Awards and certificates. They thoroughly enjoyed their day.

Gateways has had an outstanding record on the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme with a large number of girls participating in Bronze, Silver and Gold award training.

The school attains an 86% completion and two years ago was granted a licence to become a Local Operating Authority by the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme in the Yorkshire and Humber region.

Dr Tracy Johnson, Gateways School Headmistress, said:

We are very proud of our students who achieved their Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award.

It takes a lot of dedication and commitment to complete the various challenges set and they thoroughly deserve the recognition they have received.
