Harrogate Hairdresser celebrates fifth birthday

5 April 2013

The team at Dangerfield & Keane on Coldbath Road in Harrogate is celebrating the fifth anniversary of the popular Harrogate hair salon.

Set up by well-known local stylist Gerri Keane in March 2008, the business has undergone significant expansion over the last five years, more than doubling the size of its premises with a large extension two years ago and growing its staff from four to a ten-strong team.

Throughout the month, Dangerfield & Keane has been inviting clients to join the celebrations with fifth anniversary cupcakes, special promotions and a charity raffle in aid of St Michael’s Hospice.

Gerri said:

It’s been a tough, but rewarding five years. We’re fortunate to have built up a loyal base of clients who really appreciate our commitment to delivering the most enjoyable experience possible.

Our aim is to make clients feel indulged so that a visit to the hairdresser becomes a treat in itself.

As well as having an extremely friendly and skilled team, we have made the salon as comfortable as possible and we go that step further with extra touches such as an extensive choice of drinks including excellent coffee and red or white wine every day, champagne at the weekends, and other goodies such as chocolate coated strawberries and cupcakes for special occasions.

In addition to having established a successful business, I’m also proud of the salon’s on going involvement with local charities. As well as being one of the founder members of the St Michael’s Hospice Business 500 Club, in July we will be sponsoring Race for Life for the third year, supporting both the Harrogate and the Ilkley events. My thanks go to both staff and clients for their enthusiastic support.

With more than 37 years’ experience in the hair and beauty sector, Gerri has worked for some of the biggest names in the industry from Wella Haircare UK and Steiner UK to managing the salon on the ocean liner Queen Elizabeth II. More recently, he has received national recognition from leading New York-based hair product supplier Bumble & bumble, part of the Estee Lauder Group of companies, with the salon being recognised as a prime example of ‘best business practice’ .

Gerri is a regular facilitator for Bumble & bumble, teaching salon business owners from across the UK and Europe as part of their ‘immersion’ courses and lectures held twice yearly in London. He regularly mentors other salon owners across the UK by phone, email and personal visits.
