The Yorkshire Linen Co gets into bed with Disability Action Yorkshire

12 October 2012

A Harrogate-based linen company’s community support programme has seen it “getting into bed” with a local charity.

The Yorkshire Linen Co, with its head office based on the town’s Hornbeam Business Park, has donated 40 sets of bedding to Disability Action Yorkshire, which is in the process of decorating and improving its Claro Road care home.

In addition to the duvet covers, sheets and pillow cases, the company – launched in 1993 by Ross and Kirsteen Leventhal – also supplied the home with a number of throws for its two residents’ lounges.

The Yorkshire Linen Co financial director Linda Shreeve said:

Over the last number of years we have sponsored and supported a number of charities in the area, including Disability Action Yorkshire. The Yorkshire Linen Co is one of the North of England’s most popular chains of linen and bedding stores. We have more than 40 shops, including The Darley Mill Centre, and a thriving online business www.yorkshirelinen.com, and we are always keen to support and help charities, especially those based in North Yorkshire.

When we found out Disability Action Yorkshire was decorating its care home on Claro Road, we asked if we could help in terms of donating bedding for the 20 residents.

Disability Action Yorkshire provides a range of high quality services which support disabled people and we are proud to be associated with it.

This donation is very generous and I can’t thank them enough – it has given the bedrooms a real lift.

Linda brought in loads of samples so that the service users could choose what they preferred, the unanimous decision being for some funky stripes and checks.

They also donated some really snuggly throws which have been very well received!

We are really grateful to everyone at The Yorkshire Linen Co, especially Linda Shreeve, who gives us such fantastic support throughout the year.
