At NYCC John was responsible for amongst other things, Property, IT, and Procurement. Prior to joining NYCC, John worked for local government as an accountant.

NYnet Chairman, John Watson, said:

We are very pleased about the appointment of John as our new Chief Executive. It is an exciting time for NYnet as we oversee the Superfast North Yorkshire Broadband Programme on behalf of North Yorkshire County Council. The future of NYnet itself looks bright as it undergoes a technology ‘refresh’ to make the most out of the latest products and services available on the market.

Commenting on his appointment, John Moore stated: “Having been involved in the development and implementation of NYnet from the very beginning, it is an honour to now be taking over the reins of the company as it enters its latest phase of innovation for North Yorkshire. It will be a challenge, but one I will endeavour to meet head on.”

John Moore is a keen sports fan and supporter of Newcastle Falcons and Darlington FC.

NYnet was formed by North Yorkshire County Council with funding from Yorkshire Forward and the European Union, and provides a super-fast broadband network to ensure that North Yorkshire is not ‘left behind’ in the next phase of the internet revolution.
