York Police are looking for a wanted woman

8 October 2012

York police are appealing for the public’s help to trace a wanted woman.

Samantha Barr, aged 40, who is from the Tang Hall area of the city, is wanted after failing to attend York Crown Court in May after breaching a suspended sentence order.

She was given the suspended sentence following an assault at a pub in York in March 2011.

Officers have been making extensive enquiries in an effort to trace Barr and are now appealing to the public to help locate her.

Officers believe she is no longer in York but may be frequenting Leeds, Wakefield and Selby.

Detective Inspector Dave Kirby, of York police, said:

Samantha Barr has been evading facing the police for a few months now and although we have been making efforts to locate her she remains at large.

It is believed that is possibly spending her time travelling between Leeds, Selby and Wakefield and may be visiting pubs in those areas.

I am appealing to the public to keep an eye out for Barr and contact the police and Crimestoppers if they see her.

Anyone who knows where Samantha Barr is or can help officers locate her is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for the Intelligence Unit at York.

Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
