Many people have noticed the temporary cameras that have appeared in Harrogate.
The cameras are performing a traffic survey and were installed by www.nationwidedatacollection.co.uk yesterday (11 June 2012) evening.
They have been installed in locations on Knaresborough Road, alongside the Stray, Leeds Road and Otley Road. There have also been staff with clipboards in attendance today.
The detail of who commissioned the survey and the precise detail of what is being recorded is not currently clear. It has not however been commissioned by Harrogate Borough Council, and the equipment is not being used for enforcing traffic laws in any way. They are not checking speed or undertaking insurance and road tax checks.
