Robbery in ‘The Ginnel’ in Harrogate

PoliceHarrogate police are appealing for information following a robbery in the town.

It occurred at around 7.25pm on Wednesday 18 April 2012, when a 46-year-old local woman was walking along a path between Harlow Avenue and Otley Road, known locally as The Ginnel, when two people approached her from behind.

The offenders pushed the woman to the ground before stealing her small black shoulder handbag. The handbag contained a small amount of money and mobile telephone.

The suspects are described as young, wearing dark hoodie tops and black tracksuit bottoms.

DC Kirsten Aldridge, of Harrogate CID, said:

Thankfully the woman was not seriously injured as a result of this incident. However, she was naturally shaken by the experience.

I ask anyone who can help to identify the youths responsible to contact the police straight away.

I would like to reassure the public that incidents of this type are thankfully rare in the Harrogate area.
