National Gardening Week at Harlow Carr

The RHS is on a mission to get the nation growing with the first ever National Gardening Week due to take place from 16th – 22nd April.

RHS Garden Harlow Carr, Harrogate has a whole host of events with themed days designed to appeal to both the seasoned horticulturist and beginner alike.

There will be advisory with the RHS experts, opportunity to catch up with the Harlow Carr gardeners to find out how they keep the garden looking its best, garden tours, and talks on areas of the garden, specific plants and answers to common gardening queries.

Wednesday 18th April is dedicated to those wishing to pursue a career in horticulture with the chance to meet various workers in a variety of specialisms including dry stone walling, willow weaving and tree surgery.

The weekend (Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd) sees lots of activities for all the family including sunflower planting, a worm charming competition, advice on growing veggies with BBC radio presenter Joe Maiden, sweet pea hanging basket demonstrations, and tips on herbaceous border division. Renowned Floral Designer Paul Pryke will be demonstrating simple flower arrangements on the Saturday and Sunday hosts garden tours exploring the Victorian influences of Harlow Carr.
