Moor fires now out near Thuscross

Fire ServiceA fire engine was dispatched from Harrogate today (28 March 2012) and confirmed that yesterday’s moor fires were fully extinguished.

North Yorkshire Fire service received a call yesterday reporting a fire on Hanging Moor near Thuscross.

Fire engines from Harrogate, Northallerton were sent and upon arrival fire crews discover 5 different seats of fire measuring an area of approximately 1km sq. Due to the scale of the fire additional fire engines were requested and sent from Ripon, Tadcaster, and Skipton making 6 engines in total.

Crews used beaters, and hoses to bring the fire under control.
