Bomb disposal experts called to Harrogate property

PolicePolice officers attended a property on Baldwin Street In Harrogate on the evening of Tuesday 20 December 2011 at 9pm in connection with an investigation into burglary. While carrying out a search of the premises they discovered the item that appeared to be a potential explosive device.

After consulting army bomb disposal experts for advice, officers evacuated the property and placed a 100-metre cordon around the house as a precaution. They also issued advice to local residents to remain indoors, with windows and curtains closed until advised otherwise. Army ordnance experts were called and attended the scene.

By 11pm, Army bomb disposal experts had attended and confirmed that the suspicious device found was not dangerous and the cordon around the property lifted.

The current advice to residents is to remain indoors, with windows and curtains closed until advised otherwise.

 

Army ordnance experts are currently at the scene.
