New Headteacher for St Aidan’s School

The Governing Body of St. Aidan’s  in Harrogate have appointed Mr John Wood as Headteacher of the school from 1 January 2012.

Mr Wood joined the school as a teacher of Religious Studies in 1977. He has been a well known and highly respected member of the school staff for over thirty years, serving most recently as Assistant Head in the senior leadership team. His ability to remember all pupils, past and present, is legendary.

As Head of Year 7 Mr Wood has exceptionally strong links with primary schools in the area. He has been involved with youth music in and around Harrogate for many years. Mr Wood’s wife, Lynn, is a former member of staff and his children Emma and Peter are former pupils. He is a member of St Mark’s Church where he leads the Explorer Group.

The governors have said they delighted that he has accepted the post and are confident that Mr Wood will lead the school with great distinction, building on the outstanding reputation that it already enjoys.
