Man Shot Burmantofts, Leeds

17 September 2011

Police are appealing for information after a 31-year-old local man was shot outside The Kiln public house on Brignall Garth, Burmantofts, Leeds, on Thursday 15 September.

Officers were called to the incident just before 11pm. The injured man was found a short distance away from the pub with a single gun shot wound to his back. He was taken to hospital where his condition is stable.

Enquiries are ongoing and detectives are keen to hear from any witnesses to the incident or anyone seeing any suspicious activity in the area shortly before or immediately after 11pm.

Detective Superintendent Paul Taylor, of the Force’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said:

There will have been lots of people milling around at that time. I understand that many of the people in The Kiln that night had been to a boxing match earlier – someone must have seen what happened.

We have received an anonymous call from someone suggesting why this happened – we would like that person to ring back. They should be reassured that all information will be treated in the strictest confidence.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team via 0845 6060606 or Crimestoppers anonymously and in confidence on: 0800 555 111.
