Elderly pedestrian injured in Skipton collision

Police are investigating a road traffic collision in Skipton which left an elderly woman with head injuries.

The victim, an 87-year-old woman, was crossing Newmarket Street near Bunkers Hill junction, at around 4pm on Monday 12 September 2011, when she was hit by a blue Rover car.

She was taken to Airedale General Hospital for treatment where her condition is described as improving.

The driver of the car, a woman in her 20s, was uninjured in the collision.

Officers conducting enquiries into the incident are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Traffic Constable Rob Roberts, of North Yorkshire Police’s Roads Policing Group, said:

I would like to thank a number of witnesses who stopped at the scene of the collision and assisted with the investigation.

However, I am appealing to anyone else who was in the area at the time and saw what happened to get in touch with the police as soon as possible.
